Emergency rate typically adds 50-100% to standard repair pricing. Concrete numbers:

• Standard daytime repair (M-F 7am-5pm): baseline rate, around $250-$700 for typical repairs
• After-hours weeknight (5pm-11pm): +50% surcharge — about $375-$1,050
• Weekend repair: +75% surcharge — about $440-$1,225
• Overnight (11pm-6am): +100% surcharge — about $500-$1,400
• Holiday repair: +100% surcharge plus minimum service call ($500+)

Plus a minimum service call of $250-$400 for emergency visits, even if the actual repair is small.

How fast can you respond to an emergency sign repair in Chicago?

Same-day response for most situations within Chicago + close suburbs. Typical timing:

• Active safety hazard (sparking, fallen, fire): Aim for 2-4 hour response
• After-hours functional emergency: Same evening or following morning if called after 6pm
• Weekend functional emergency: Same day or next morning
• Outer suburbs (Barrington, Naperville, Ottawa): Add 60-90 minutes to response time

When you call, the first thing we'll do is determine whether it's safe to leave the sign as-is until business hours or whether we need to roll a truck immediately. Most "emergencies" turn out to be situations where temporary stabilization is enough, and full repair can happen the next day at standard rate.

Can you do emergency sign repair on weekends?

Yes — though weekend availability is the highest-premium service. Saturday/Sunday repair runs:

• Weekend service call (minimum): $400-$600
• Standard repair work added: Same as weekday but at +75% surcharge
• Total typical weekend repair: $600-$1,400

For situations where it can wait until Monday, the cost savings of waiting are substantial — typically 50-100% off the weekend bill. But for situations where it really can't wait (sparking, fallen, fire risk), weekend service is available.

What should I do until the repair crew arrives?

Five things to do in the meantime:

• Cut power to the sign at the breaker if it's safe to do so and the sign is actively sparking or smoking
• Block off the area below or around the sign if there's risk of falling pieces
• Take photos of the damage from multiple angles (insurance documentation)
• Don't touch damaged components — exposed wires can carry current even after a breaker trip
• Don't try to repair anything yourself — even reattaching a loose piece can make the eventual repair harder

If anyone is in immediate danger (active fire, downed live wires, sign about to fall on a sidewalk), call 911 first. Emergency repair second.
